The daily output of crude steel was 3.1165Mt in May

According to the statistics of CISA, the daily output of crude steel was 3.1165Mt in May, up by 0.77% compared with April. The total output of crude steel was 96.61Mt in May, down by 3.50% y-o-y. The daily outputs of pig iron and steel products were 2.5965Mt and 3.9552Mt in May, up by 1.45% and 3.33% compared with April. The total outputs of pig iron and steel products increased by 2.0% and decreased by 2.3% y-o-y to 80.49Mt and 122.61Mt respectively.

During January to May, the total outputs of pig iron, crude steel and steel products were 361Mt, 435Mt, 549Mt, down by 8.7%, 5.9% and 5.1% y-o-y. The daily outputs of pig iron, crude steel and steel products during January to May were 2.3899Mt, 2.8809Mt and 3.6378Mt.

In May, the daily outputs of pig iron, crude steel and steel products in major steel enterprises counted by CISA were 2.1710Mt, 2.4746Mt, 2.3866Mt, up by 1.37%, 1.04% and 1.59% m-o-m. During January to May, the total outputs of pig iron, crude steel and steel products in major steel enterprises counted by CISA were 301Mt, 343Mt and 332Mt, down by 4.96%, 6.50% and 5.37% y-o-y.

Steel product stocks were decreased in early-June

According to the statistics of CISA, the daily output of crude steel was 2.2886Mt in major steel enterprises counted by CISA in early-June, down by 1.32% compared with that in late-May. The total output of crude steel, pig iron and steel products were 22.8865Mt, 20.5217Mt and 21.7196Mt respectively.

By estimation, the daily output of crude steel in the whole country was 3.1318Mt in the period, down by 1.05% compared with that in the previous ten days. During early-June, the total output of crude steel, pig iron and steel products were 31.3180Mt, 26.3732Mt and 39.5735Mt respectively in the whole country.

The stocks of steel products in these steel enterprises amounted to 18.5475Mt in early-June, up by 605,100t compared with that in late-May.

CPI increased by 2.1% and PPI rose by 8.0% y-o-y in May

According to the information from the NBS, China’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 2.1% y-o-y and down by 0.2% m-o-m in April. Food price increased by 2.3% and non-food price went up by 2.1%. CPI went up by 2.1% in urban and 2.1% in rural areas compared with last year.

China’s Producer Price Index (PPI) went up by 6.4% y-o-y and up by 0.1% m-o-m. Purchase prices of raw materials increased by 10.8% y-o-y.
